Albert J. Kolar Jr., 79, of Ruffsdale, PA, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Excela Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg, PA. He was born September 7, 1942 in Herminie, PA. Son of the late Albert J. Sr. and Bertha Mae (McKeel) Kolar. Albert attended Hempfield High School and then went on to serve as a welder in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Albert was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Legion, Youngwood VFW, Hempfield Hunt Club, East Huntingdon Fireman’s Club, Hecla Sportsmen’s Club, Yukon Slovenian Hall and the Shafton Fireman’s Club. Albert was a talented accordion and guitar player. He loved listening to and playing polkas; including watching the Mollie B. Polka Party. He and his family enjoyed attending the Polka Day at Idelwild Park every year. Albert loved a cold Budweiser and eating ice cream. He enjoyed working on old cars, tending to his garden and building things out of steel. He is preceded in death by both parents and loving wife - Patricia Ann (Walt) Kolar and one sister – Geraldine B. Kolar. He is survived by two sons - James A. Kolar and wife Tiffani of Mt. Pleasant, PA and Gary Kolar and significant-other Amanda of Central, PA, one daughter – Barbie Myers and husband Ron of Scottdale, PA, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, one sister – Donna Raley of New Stanton, PA one half-brother – Allen Kolar and significant other Rebecca of Kecksburg, PA, and one half-sister – Brenda Suter and husband Jeff of Ruffsdale, PA. Friends will be received from 5 – 8 pm on Monday, January 31, 2022 and from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A funeral mass will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Youngwood, PA with Fr. William McGirk officiating. Interment will follow at the Westmoreland Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensburg, PA. Masks are highly recommended to be worn at all time while in the funeral home.
