Alexander M. ("Rojek") Kristoff

Alexander M. “Rojek” Kristoff, 83 of Wyano, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh, PA.  He was born May 1, 1940 in Whyles, PA.  Son of the late John “Zab” Sr. and Lillian (Hamilton) Kristoff. He grew up playing baseball where he acquired the nickname “Rojek”.  He graduated from Sewickley Township High School Class of 1958. Rojek proudly served in the US Navy. He worked and retired from Allegheny Power Service Corporation as a Survey Supervisor after 30+ years of service. He began his love of golf by caddying at a young age.  He played on golf leagues at The Madison Club and Cedarbrook, where he was known as “Hammer” to his golf friends for his strong swing. Rojek loved being outdoors, golfing, hunting, and gardening. Also spending time with his very special “camp” friends. He enjoyed polka music and dancing in his younger days. He was a member of West Newton Sportsman’s Club, Yukon Slovenian Hall Lodge 729, West Newton VFW and Collinsburg Liederkranz. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, John Kristoff Jr., Jim Kristoff and Dave Kristoff. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Karen L. “McMinn” Kristoff: daughter Renee’ (John) Weston of West Newton, PA; brother Donald (Pauline) Kristoff of Madison, PA and sister, Roseann (Lloyd) Ohler of New Stanton, PA. And numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2-7 pm on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at the Betty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA- Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD.   A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at the funeral home with Rev. Randy Sweet officiating.  Interment will follow at the West Newton Cemetery in West Newton, PA with full military honors by the Armbrust Veterans accorded. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Rojek’s memory to the Rostraver West Newton Emergency Services, Inc. PO Box 603 Belle Vernon, PA 15012.
