Barbara Ann (Oplinger) Detar

Barbara Ann Oplinger Detar, 83, of Adamsburg, PA, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at St. Anne Home in Greensburg, PA. She was born December 26, 1937 in Greensburg, PA. Daughter of the late Violet Oplinger Fyock. Barbara was a graduate of Jeannette High School Class of 1955. After high school, she went on to become a waitress at the Village Inn for over 30 years. She enjoyed bowling, going to casinos and playing bingo every Friday with her sister which she took very seriously. Barbara was a good cook, baker and decorator of her grandchildren’s birthday cakes. She always had freshly baked cookies, brownies and fudge in her home and made sure her children and grandchildren left her home full. She liked to travel and visited places such as Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Lancaster with her husband. She also had a camp at Camp Coyler by State College that she went to ever since she was a child. She is preceded in death by her mother, loving husband of 44 years – Leslie D. Detar, loving grandparents – George and Sarah Oplinger, two sisters – Susan Harrity and Natalie Miller, and one brother – William Davis. She is survived by one daughter – Kathy Kunkle and husband Timothy of Greensburg, PA, two sons – Rick Detar of Lancaster, PA and James L. Detar and significant other Karen Brenner of Dover, PA, two brothers – Nathan Fyock of NC and Timothy Fyock and wife Mara of Houston, TX, two sisters – Georgia Taylor of FL and Virginia Mallory of Pittsburgh, PA, four grandchildren – Tiffanie and husband Addam Patrick, Timothy and wife Carly, Nicole and husband Alex and Joshua and six great grandchildren – Nathan, Abby, Zach, Violet, Dylan and Riley. Friends will be received from 1 – 3 pm and 6 – 8 pm on Friday, January 22, 2021 at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the Brush Creek Cemetery with Pastor Elaine Frantz officiating. Those of you wishing to attend the graveside service for Barbara are asked to go directly to the cemetery – Alta Mira Lane Irwin, PA 15642. Interment will follow. In compliance with the CDC COVID-19 guidelines, only 20 people will be permitted at one time into the funeral home. Masks are required to be worn at all times while in the funeral home and social distancing is required. Anyone wishing to come into the funeral home for visitation is required to stay in their vehicle until allowed to enter the funeral home by a parking lot attendant.
