Barbara Ann (Demorest) Kaffka

Barbara Ann (Demorest) Kaffka, 68, of Youngwood, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her siblings on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Excela Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg, PA. She was born January 10, 1953 in Greensburg, PA. Daughter of the late Marvin M. and Dorothy (Krause) Demorest. Barbara was a graduate of South Huntingdon High School Class of 1970. She attended and received her certificate from the PIA trade school in Pittsburgh, PA as an aircraft mechanic. She then went on to work as an airplane mechanic for U.S. Air for 15 years. Barbara enjoyed painting, playing bingo and watching the Penguins. She was a collector of antiques and enjoyed shopping for treasures at local shops. Barbara loved skiing; often visiting Holiday Valley, Colorado and Seven Springs. She liked to travel; enjoying trips to Aruba, Nags Head, North Carolina and Tennessee with her husband. She is preceded in death by both parents, loving husband – Jeffrey C. Kaffka, one son – Phillip Keefer and loving companion Dusty. She is survived by seven sisters - Cindy (James) Sebek of Waynesburg, PA, Michele (Lester) Mears of Ruffsdale, PA, Shari (Greg) Beers of Herminie, PA, Teresa Demorest of Ruffsdale, PA, Kathy Carvallis of Youngwood, PA, Dorothy (Bob) Albright of Bear Rocks, PA and Laverne (Larry) Ray of Ruffsdale, PA, one brother - Marvin (Mimi) Demorest of Youngwood, PA, one loving companion – Tansy and one special neighbor – Patty Kosar and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Friends will be received from 5 – 8 pm on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A funeral service will be held at 8 pm with Rev. Randy Sweet officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Barbara’s memory to the Animal Friends of Westmoreland 216 Depot St, Youngwood, PA 15697.
