Bill Knack

G. William “Bill” Knack, 78, of Ruffsdale, PA passed away Friday, March 5, 2021 at UPMC East in Monroeville, PA. He was born September 14, 1942 in Homestead, PA. Son of the late George and Helen Swetz Knack. Bill was a graduate of Homestead High School Class of 1960. He then went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Penn State University. Bill was employed and retired from U.S. Steel where he worked in managements for over 30 years. Bill was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Yukon, PA and St. Edward’s Church in Herminie, PA. He was a Eucharistic minister as well as to the homebound. He was on the financial council and a server for mass. Bill was very passionate in his faith and family. He was very genuine, loved deeply, cared for others, loved life, was a protector of his family and always lived in the present. He loved to golf, ride horses and travel; spanning from Mexico to Ireland for yearly family vacations. Bill loved making people happy, always had time to listen and enjoyed helping people because as Bill would state, “who has more fun than people.” Bill owned and managed several businesses in his life, starting with “Biren Arabians,” where he raised and bred Arabian horses to William’s Select Carpets selling flooring. He is preceded in death by both parents and survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 54 years – Maureen G. Kelly Knack of Ruffsdale, PA, two daughters – Colleen Czekaj and husband Walter of Irwin, PA and Kathy Knack of Wooster, OH, one son - Edward K. Knack of McKees Rocks, PA, seven grandchildren – Riley, Olivia, Kate, Colin, Walt, Michael and Brett, one great grandson – Thomas, one brother – Edward Knack of NC and one sister – Loni Kaye of Munhall, PA. Friends will be received on Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 3 pm – 7 pm at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 11 am at St. Edward Catholic Church in Herminie, PA with Fr. Richard Ulam, O.S.B. officiating. Interment will follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in N. Huntingdon, PA. Those wishing to attend the funeral mass for Bill, are asked to go directly to the church - 120 St. Edwards Lane Herminie, PA 15637. In compliance with the CDC COVID-19 guidelines, only 30 people will be permitted at one time into the funeral home. Masks are required to be worn at all times while in the funeral home and social distancing is required.
