Charlotte June Golden Sheraw, 93, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on December 26, 2020 at the Stone Pear Pavilion, the Orchards at Foxcrest in Chester, WV. She was born on May 25, 1927 in Conemaugh, PA. Daughter of the late George and Edna Pringle Golden. During her youth, she was involved in many activities including music and dance lessons, basketball and cheerleading. Charlotte and her many cousins enjoyed idyllic summers at their grandparents’ cottage in Vinco, PA. After graduating in 1945 from Conemaugh High School, Charlotte attended Indiana State Teachers College, now IUP, majoring in business and music. On May 1, 1948, she married William Foster Sheraw and moved to Madison, PA, where she lived until moving to The Orchards in 2015 after the passing of her beloved husband. Her spiritual home was Hilltop United Methodist Church in Madison, where she ministered to the congregation for decades as music and choir director and organist. A gifted musician, she also taught private piano and organ lessons for many years. She served her community as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Madison Volunteer Fire Department. Another passion, taken up later in life, was art, creating many beautiful works in watercolor, Chinese watercolor and pastels that are treasured by her family. Charlotte is survived by her daughter Ellen Jones (Mark), her son Daniel (Sandra) and grandchildren Rachel Maize, Matthew Sheraw, Kristen McNelis and Katie Williams and great grandchildren Audrey and Ezra Maize, Keira, Kellan and Keegan McNelis, Fox Williams and Claire Sheraw and her niece, Melissa Bird. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 2 PM at Madison Union Cemetery in Madison, PA with Rev. Randy Sweet officiating.
