Edith L. Errett Carns, 71, of Madison, PA passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Excela Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg, PA. She was born February 15, 1950 in Greensburg, PA. Daughter of the late Paul Nelson and Mary L. Cochenour Errett. Edith was a graduate of the former Sewickley Township High School Class of 1968 and a graduate from the McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1971. She then went on to become a nurse at Jeannette District Memorial Hospital for over 37 years where she worked in telemetry and med surge until retirement in 2008. Edith was a very loving mother and grandmother. She was extremely devoted to her family and made certain to make as many life memories through local excursions or trips as possible. She loved to knit and made many items for her children, grandchildren and family members. She also enjoyed sewing; making clothes for her children when growing up. She liked to listen to podcasts, a large variety of music and read. Until she became sick, she was very active in church. Her love, wisdom, cheerful personality and sage advice will be missed beyond measure. She is preceded in death by both parents and survived by one son – Daniel Carns and wife Elizabeth of Herminie, PA, one daughter – Jennifer L. Rauch and husband Phil of Madison, PA, four grandchildren – Natalie, Andrew, Jason and Jared, two great grandchildren – Riley and Vincent, one brother – Jason Errett and wife Donna of Wikieup, AZ and four sisters – Elva Ray Herbruck of North Canton, OH, Deborah Clark and boyfriend Ronnie McBride of Walkertown, NC, Paulette Stahoviak of Durham, NC and Kathy Strode and husband Brian of Chesapeake, VA. Friends will be received Monday, April 12, 2021 from 2 – 4 pm and 7 – 9 pm at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr, Supervisor/FD. A private service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 with Pastor David Greer officiating. Interment will follow at the Madison Union Cemetery in Madison, PA. In compliance with the CDC COVID-19 guidelines, only 40 people will be permitted at one time in the funeral home. Masks are required to be worn at all times while in the funeral home and social distancing is required.
