Eugene R. Proctor

Eugene R. Proctor, 89, of New Stanton, Pa. died Sunday June 17, 2018 at his home. He was born April 28, 1929 in Irwin, Pa. Son of the late Carl S. and Ruth Steiner Proctor. Prior to his retirement, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an auto service man. He later on became an over the road truck driver. He was a member of the American Legion Post #40 of Carver, MA. He was also a previous member of the Hempfield Hunt Club of New Stanton, Pa. Eugene loved scratch offs and was an avid coin collector. Throughout his life, he earned the name “The Penny Man” to which he handed out thousands of lucky pennies throughout his life. He is preceded in death by both his parents, wife Mildred G. Smith Proctor of 62 years, three brothers – Carl Proctor, George Proctor and Duane Proctor and two sisters – Gwen Weinburg and Margie Miller. He is survived by three sons – Dave Proctor and wife Sue of Pittsburg, Pa., Zane Proctor of New Stanton, Pa. and Mark Proctor of Donora, Pa., three daughters – Janet Powell and husband Ralph of Brockton, MA., Merry Patton of Carver, MA. and Barbara Savasta of New Stanton, Pa., eighteen grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Eugene will be missed by many. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Thursday June 21, 2018 at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, Pa. Services will be held on Friday June 22, 2018 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with the Reverend Samuel Scheiderer officiating.
