Gary W. (Bootsie) Sanner

Gary W. “Bootsie” Sanner, of Pleasant Unity, PA, formerly of Arona, PA, passed away peacefully Friday, May 6, 2022 in Greensburg, PA. He was born September 19, 1942 in Meadville, PA. Son of Eliza (Bussard) Geary and the late Howard "Hud" Sanner. He was a graduate from Hempfield High School Class of 1960. Gary was a member of Arona United Methodist Church for many years, a member of the local #154 Boiler Makers and was an active member in the Blind Bowlers Association. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed coon hunting with his dogs, old cars, listening to country music and attending the PA Lions Club Beacon Lodge Camp for the Blind. He enjoyed playing poker with his sons and watching Gary race in the demo derbies. Gary was the giver of nicknames. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his greatest joy.  He was his mother’s biggest fan. He is preceded in death by his father, step-father Jesse Geary and brother James Geary. He is survived by one daughter – Sherry L. Sanner-Bolha of Latrobe, PA, two sons - John W. Sanner of Natrona, Heights, PA and Gary T. Sanner and wife LeeAnn of Greensburg, PA, seven grandchildren - John R. Sanner and wife Natalie, Sara Bolha-D’Addio and husband Peter, Steven Sanner and fiancé Carissa, Kelly Murphy and husband Bernie, Jesse Sanner, Brandon Bolha and Julie Sanner, three great grandchildren – Hadley, Jack and baby boy Sanner, two brothers - Larry H. Sanner and wife Linda of Arona, PA and Ray Geary and wife Cindy of Butler, PA, sister-in-law – Barbara Geary of Greensburg, PA and former son-in-law – Paul Bolha. Friends will be received from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm on Monday, May 9, 2022 at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Anthony officiating. Interment will follow at the Middletown United Methodist Church Cemetery in Greensburg, PA.
