George Welsh Obituary

 

 

George W. Welsh Jr., 80, of Madison, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 3, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born December 11, 1941 in McKeesport, PA. Son of the late George W. Sr. and Helen (Trump) Welsh. George was a graduate of Hempfield High School Class of 1959. Upon graduation, he served in the Army as a Track Vehicle Mechanic during the Vietnam War. George worked for and retired from Beckwith Machinery Co. after 40+ years as a mechanic. He was a member of many places; including South Greensburg Hunt Club, Hempfield Hunt Club, A&B Club, VFW in Youngwood, PA, East Huntingdon’s Fireman’s Club and Midway Firehall. George loved being a mechanic; after work tinkering with cars and working with his hands. George was a motorcycle enthusiast; owning many motorcycles throughout his life including his most recent Harley Ultra Classic. He enjoyed Stroh’s beer, watching the Steelers, Penguins and Nascar and driving Ford vehicles. He is preceded in death by both parents, two daughters – Heidi Welsh and Cindy Bell and one sister – Bonnie Dahm. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years – Wanda (Koshinsky) Welsh, one son – Gregory Welsh of Madison, PA, two daughters – Donna Henderson and husband Bob Charles of Ligonier, PA and Tracy Welsh-Cox of Greensburg, PA, 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two brothers – Jim Welsh and wife Kathy of Long Beach, MS and Bill Welsh and wife Michelle of Knoxville, TN and two sisters – MaryLou Berry and husband David of Greensburg, PA and Karen Welsh of Elizabeth, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A celebration of life will be held at 10 AM on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Youngwood Cemetery in Youngwood, PA with full military honors with Armbrust Veterans accorded. Interment will follow.
