Helen Irene (Cochenour) Boby

Helen I. (Cochenour) Boby, 95, of Wendel, PA, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021 at her home. She was born January 15, 1926 in Madison, PA. Daughter of the late Eli and Mertle I. Barnhart Cochenour. Helen was a graduate of the former Sewickley Township High School Class of 1944. She was a member of the Downtown United Methodist Church in Madison, PA. Helen worked at Kaufman’s, Robertshaw during WWII calibrating plane mechanisms and Miller’s Inn, where she met her husband. Helen was an amazing mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and baker; selling her baked goods at the Latrobe flea market and Greengate Mall flea market and was lovingly known as the "Cookie Lady". Helen enjoyed painting nature and Indian art and working in the garden planting and harvesting strawberries. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years – Charles Boby and one sister – Mary Errett. She is survived by children – Charles A. Boby and wife Barbara of Darragh, PA, Michael J. Boby and wife Maggie of Penn Hills, PA, Joan I. Gitlin and husband Norman Axler of North Andover, MA and Thomas G. Boby and wife Tina of Washington, PA; twelve grandchildren – Dylan, Corey, Dana, Maddie, Melissa, Robin, Jennifer, Jeremy, Neil, Maria, Andrea, Christie, nine great grandchildren – Jace, Ryan, Nathan, Rowan, Eleanor, Ronan, Helen, John Daniel and Emelia and one sister – Rose Podgorsek of CA. Friends will be received on Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 4 – 8 pm at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 18, 2021 at the funeral home with Chaplain Terrance King officiating. Interment will follow at the Madison Union Cemetery in Madison, PA. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to grandson Neil and his husband Andrew for all their love and compassionate care provided to Helen. Also, the family wishes to thank Grane Hospice for the care and support provided to Helen and the family. Per the family's request, those who have not yet been fully vaccinated are required to wear a mask at all times while in the funeral home.
