Helen E. (Dempsey) Logan, 81, of New Stanton, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 27, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 5, 1941 in North Braddock, PA. Daughter of the late Walter A. Sr. and Mary E. (Kreiger) Dempsey. She was a graduate of North Huntingdon High School Class of 1959. Helen was a 58-year member of Hilltop United Methodist Church in Madison, PA. She was very active in her church; hosting small group Growth Groups at her home and teaching both the Bethel Bible Study and Sunday School for various ages at the church. She was also the secretary for the church for 27 years. Later in life, she enjoyed lending a helping hand at her daughter Patty’s business, Logan’s Floral. In her younger years, she enjoyed going roller skating at a nearby rink on Ardmore Boulevard and spending time at her grandmother’s restaurant in East Liberty. Helen was a great cook, liked to crotchet and sew, was an avid reader and worked jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed gardening, canning and taking her grandson Justin bowling every Saturday. She enjoyed traveling, going on cruises to the Caribbean and listening to a variety of music from Elvis to gospel. She is preceded in death by both parents; loving husband of 53 years, James M. Logan; brother, Walter A. Dempsey Jr.; sister-in-law, Toni Dempsey and infant sister, Patricia Dempsey. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Ann Logan of New Stanton, PA, Pastor Paula J. Logan Koch (David) of Millersburg, OH and Pamela J. Logan of Irwin, PA; grandson, Justin R. Logan and bonus grandson Andy Burgman of Irwin, PA; brother, Ray Dempsey (Donna) of Greensburg, PA; sister, Barbara Harskowitch (Robert) of N. Huntingdon, PA; beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and loving pup, Mojo. As a family we would like to say, Thank you to Dr. Sonika Gill and Mom’s girls at the Arnold Palmer Cancer Clinic in Norwin. Friends will be received from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA 15663 – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. An additional viewing will be held from 10:30-11:00 am on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at the Hilltop United Methodist Church in Madison, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at the church with Pastor Paula J. Logan Koch officiating. Interment will follow at the Madison Union Cemetery in Madison, PA.
