Ivan Perry Baughman

Ivan (Ike) Perry Baughman, 86, of Irwin, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 21, 2020 having visited with his loving family at Redstone Highlands. He was born on August 17, 1934 in Greensburg, PA and lived most of his young life in Arona, PA. Son of the late Willis Siegfried and Ruth Fox Baughman. Ivan was a graduate of Sewickley High School graduating class of 1952. In High School, he was a pitcher on the baseball team and also in the Westmoreland County League. Ivan had a tryout with the Baltimore Orioles but wasn’t drafted. He attended Thiel College where he pitched baseball and graduated with honors in May 1958. Ivan was a 32 year employee at People’s Gas where he served as a Marketing Supervisor. Ivan was a member of Mountain Lodge #281 F&AM Altoona.  He actively worked for various Chambers of Commerce, The United Way, Cancer Society and other charitable organizations. Ivan was a big people person and loved to spend time with family and friends. Ivan was a member of West Hempfield Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon and greeter. He enjoyed sharing the Gospel with the Reverend Andrew Wirt and his special church family and was thankful for their support during his illness. Ivan enjoyed a special relationship of 29 years with his beloved wife Elizabeth (Betty) Conklin Baughman and is grateful for the many blessings they have received. He is preceded in death by both parents, his loving wife Patricia Ziegler Baughman (1969), infant twin daughters - Gail and Patricia, in-laws – Harry and Gail Ziegler and one sister – Audrey Baughman. He is survived by his loving family – sons – Eric (Mary), Christopher (Mindy), Adam (Christi) and his step-son – Richard (Allison) Hixon, 10 grandchildren, one great granddaughter – Asia and several cousins, nieces and nephews. The Baughman family enjoyed many wonderful happy times at his summer home on the Allegheny River. Due to COVID-19, A memorial service will be held at a later date yet to be announced at the West Hempfield Presbyterian Church with Pastor Andrew G. Wirt officiating.
