J.D. Stoner Obituary

 

 

J.D. Stoner, 79, of Hunker, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 12, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 13, 1941 in Rocktown, PA. Son of the late Orton O. and Margaret Leasure Stoner. J.D. began working at age 14 for Waltz Garage in New Stanton, PA as a diesel mechanic and then retired in 2006 from McIlvaine’s Trucking in Hunker, PA. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, yard work, working in the garden and listening to country music. He loved his family and thought his grandchildren were his world. He enjoyed playing the electric guitar and would play every Saturday night on the porch with his brothers and children, who also played instruments. He is preceded in death by both parents, one brother – Ronald Stoner and eight sisters – Retha Hribal, Dolores Moore, Zelma Hubert, Gloria Miller, Jeannette Stoner, Martha Butler, Margaret Burkholder and Carol Kite. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years – Sharon E. Trout Stoner of Hunker, PA, two sons – J.D. Stoner Jr. of Hunker, PA and Jeffrey Stoner and wife Kimberly of Greensburg, PA, three brothers - Lawrence Stoner of New Stanton, PA, Frank Stoner of Scottdale, PA and David Stoner and wife Kathy of Rostraver, PA, three sisters – Diane Lint of Central, PA, Emma Stoner of Ruffsdale, PA and Deborah Lint and husband John of Ruffsdale, PA, seven grandchildren – Shara Yatime, Trisha Kampert, John Stoner, Madison Stoner, Joshua Stoner, Logan Stoner and Jayden Stoner and four great grandchildren – Ava Stoner, Mia Hollingshead, Izabella Hollingshead and Zahra Yatime. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 27th, 2021 at 11am at St. Mark Lutheran Church. 126 W. Pennsylvania Ave. New Stanton, Pa. 15672 with Pastor Steve Officiating. Covid-19 protocol is being followed and masks are required to be worn at all times when in the church and social distancing is required. Beatty- Rich Funeral Home, Inc.
