James W. “Dixie” Hiles, 86 of Ruffs Dale, passed away, Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 12, 1936 in Mt. Pleasant the son of the late William W. and Ellouise (Breegle) Hiles.
Dixie retired from Super Valu where he was a truck driver for 36 years. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Macon as a gunner. Jim was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting, camping, gardening and mowing. He was an avid coffee clutcher at McDonald’s, New Stanton and faithfully attended Sunday Man Church up on the hill.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Loretta (Baroni) Hiles whom he married November 14, 1959; his son, William W. Hiles (Linda), Lori Bayura (Paul Covin), his three grandchildren, Crystal McGeary (Jason) and their son, Ryan; Lauren Bayura; and Ashlee Howell and her family Kyla, Adrian and Scarlet; his extended family, James “Brother” & Carolyn Cholock and their family, Cara Cholock, Jamie Federer (Ryan) and their son, Gio; he is also survived by his niece, Lou Ann Kusmierek (Bob).
Family and friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME, INC. Route 136, Ronald A. Rich, Jr. Supervisor/FD where his funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am with Pastor Greg Butler officiating. Interment will follow in the West Newton Cemetery with military honors.
