Jean L. (Herrod) Karr

Jean L. Herrod Karr, 91, of Evanstown, PA. died Thursday May 17, 2018 at Hempfield Manor. She was born October 29, 1926 in Greensburg, PA. Daughter of the late Roy T. and Idella M. Henry Herrod. She was a former member of the Harrold Zion Lutheran Church in Fort Allen, PA. Jean planted a huge garden each year and loved cooking and canning the vegetables she grew. She liked sewing, arts and crafts and was a huge fan of HGTV. She was also very proud of the afghans that she crocheted for everyone. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Clinton Karr ( 1968 ), a son Charles G. Van Horn, a daughter Debra A. Jablonsky, an infant grandson Clinton Stark, two son –in-laws Allan P. Stark and John Jablonsky, a daughter in law Maureen Van Horn and two sisters Dorothy Wise and Ruth Schmidt. She is survived by two daughters—Sandra Stark of North Huntington, PA, Cindy Brown and husband Ronald of Murrysville. PA, ten grandchildren—Missy (John), Jerry (Michelle), Gretchen (Jerry), Mike, Kevin ( Jessica), Stefanie (Brad), Colin, Rachel (Nick), John and Melanie, nine great grandchildren---Blake, Zach, Desi, Taylor, Jacob, Anna- Marie, Samuel, Lillian and Emma and one daughter-in-law Sue ( Vanhorn) Marsh and her husband Ron of Florida. Friends will be received Monday May 21, 2018 from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA. Services will take place at 10:30 am Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Don Hezlep officiating.
