John Staney Obituary

John W. Staney, 82, of Arona, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on July 14, 1941 in Greensburg, PA. Son of the late Joseph H. and Margaret (Laudadio) Staney. John graduated from Hempfield High School and then went on to receive his Bachelor’s from the University of Pittsburgh. He served in the Airforce during the Vietnam War as a radio repairman. John worked and retired from Bombardier as an Engineer after 40+ years of service. During which he was able to travel abroad to Scotland and Germany. After retirement, he worked at Nedco where he made many great friends. John was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting with family at “Triple J Camp” on top of Laurel Mountain. He enjoyed feeding the wild animals around his home and traveling to New Smyrna Beach, FL with his wife for many years. John was a very adventurous, calm, and positive source of strength for his family. He was an amazing man that could fix anything, was a personal GPS and was known for his “pappy short cuts” His great grandchildren meant everything to him; his “sweetie pies”. He is preceded in death by both parents; step-daughter, Deborah Fraicola and brother, Paul Staney. He is survived by daughters, Brenda (Mark) Love of Latrobe, PA and Nicole M. (John) Reilly of Greensburg, PA; grandchildren, Brandon (Courtney) and Trevor; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Scarlett and Macey and special nephew, Justin Wise and brothers, Joseph (Gena) Staney of Vandergrift, PA and Robert (Nancy) Staney of Delmont, PA. Friends will be received from 11 am – 1 pm on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the Madison United Methodist Church, 254 Main Street, Madison, PA. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm at the church with Rev. Robert Green officiating. Interment will be private. Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. in charge of arrangements – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in John & Lavonne’s memory to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, PO Box 22324, New York, NY 10087.
