Judith A. Hoffer, 82 of Madison, passed away, Sunday, January 8, 2023 in Excela Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. She was born August 29, 1940 in Herminie #2 a daughter of the late Wilbert and Dorothy (Chew) Spoonhoward.
In addition to being a loving homemaker, Judy worked for Nutrition Inc at Yough High School. When she was first married, she worked at the Sterling Box Factory, Jeannette and the Village Inn, Adamsburg. Judy was a faithful member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Arona, where she was a former choir member, Sunday School teacher and participated in many church activities. Some of her hobbies included sewing, crocheting quilts for all of her grandchildren and bingo and daily crossword puzzles in the newspaper. She dearly loved her family, but especially enjoyed attending sporting events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Judy liked watching tv – her favorite shows being NCIS, Law and Order, Westerns and Game Shows. A sports fan, Judy and her husband watched the Steelers, Pirates and Pitt basketball.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a great-grandson, Sage.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Robert C. Hoffer; her three sons, David Hoffer; Eric Hoffer (Sharon) and Greg Hoffer; eight grandchildren, Samantha, Justin, Matthew, Benjamin, Joshua, Richard, Dylan and Nicolas; five great-grandchildren, Luke, Savannah, Olivia, Brooks and Nickolas, two step-grandchildren, Tiffany and Rachel and several step-great grandchildren, a sister, Roberta Polovina and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, January 12 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. Additional visitation will take place on Friday, January 13 from 10 am until 11 am the time of Judy’s funeral service in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Arona, with Rev. Sam Scheiderer officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Terry Evans who cared for Judy for 30 years and the staff of Excela Health and Hospice for the care they provided.
