Julie A. (Rupnik) Knudson

Julie A. (Rupnik) Knudson, 84, of Madison, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born February 9, 1938 in Export, PA. Daughter of the late Frank and Julia A. (Rozmus) Rupnik. She attended and graduated from Greensburg High School Class of 1956. Julie was an active 50-year member of Hilltop United Methodist Church in Madison, PA; leading vacation bible school, helping prepare luncheons and purchasing peaches for the yearly Peach Festival. She worked and retired from the United States Postal Service in Madison, PA as a postmaster after 27 years of service. She loved her job; decorating for each season, providing treats and having activities for the children in town. Julie was a very selfless woman and would do anything for her family and the community and would send out thinking of you cards to many people. She enjoyed doing crafts and needle point, cutting grass, shoveling snow, baking and making strawberry freezer jam for her family. Julie enjoyed bus trips with the Golden Agers Society, VFW conventions with her husband and riding to Bedford to see the sights. She enjoyed going to musicals, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, was an avid reader and listened to KLove. She is preceded in death by both parents; infant sister, Janet; loving husband, Jerry C. Knudson; son-in-law, William B. Captain and brother, Robert Rupnik. She is survived by three children, J. Stephen Knudson (Doreen) of Herminie, PA, Lori E. Bergman (Kevin) of Madison, PA and Sandy E. Captain of Fayette City, PA; two grandchildren, Bryan Knudson of Herminie, PA and Faith Knudson of Pittsburgh, PA. Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA in charge of arrangements – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. Friends will be received from 10:00-11:00 am on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the Hilltop United Methodist Church, 222 Church Ln, Madison, PA 15663. A memorial service will be follow at 11:00 am at the church with Rev. Randy Sweet officiating. A private graveside interment will follow at the Westmoreland Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made in Julie’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 600 Waterfront Dr #210, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 or Excela Health Home Care & Hospice, 501 W Otterman St, Greensburg, PA 15601. The family would like to thank Leah and Chelsea with Amada Senior Care and Angela and DarryAnne with Excela Home Hospice for all their loving and compassionate care provided to their mother.
