Kenneth W. Sherman, 80, of Madison, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 30, 2023 at The Rehabilitation & Nursing Center of Greater Pittsburgh surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 23, 1943 in Nashville, TN. Son of the late William and Anna Marie (Thorne) Sherman. He graduated from Rockwood Senior High School Class of 1961 and played the trumpet in the marching band. Ken was an active 55-year member of Norwin Alliance Church in Irwin, PA; where he enjoyed teaching children’s church with his wife Jeanie, sang in the choir and served on the church board. He also served on the Madison Borough council for several years. Ken worked at Westinghouse Air & Brake (WABCO) and Tooling Specialist in Latrobe as a machinist, and then retired from Cleveland Brothers Equipment Company in 2008. Ken loved to ride his Can-Am motorcycle and enjoyed special local rides to Mt. Pleasant with his wife to get ice cream, as well as to Whitney with their biker friends. Mahaffey Camp was a special place for Ken. It was where he proposed to his wife, Jeanie, hunted and spent many weekends camping with his wife and children. Ken was a talented horseshoe player, enjoyed listening to Christian music and played softball for many years on his church’s league. He and his wife enjoyed walks with their beloved companion and miniature schnauzer, Chloe. He is preceded in death by both parents; grandson, Tyson Winsel and sister, Connie Judy. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Thelma Jean “Jeanie” (Trout) Sherman of Madison, PA; daughters, Lorie (Kurt) Hinkelman and Jennifer (Rick) Davanzo; son, K. Mark (Ann) Sherman; grandchildren, Shanon (Nick) Pergar, Katie (Billy) Beach, Jared (fiancé Ellen Koch) Sherman, Rob (fiancé Alicia Rice) Hinkelman, Brian Hinkelman, Cole (girlfriend, Jordyn Granny) Stevenson and Caden Stevenson; great grandchildren, Lainey, Declan, Wylder Ray and another one on the way and loved by many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 1-3 pm and 6-8 pm on Friday, November 3, 2023 at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Norwin Alliance Church, 10585 Farview Dr. Irwin, PA 15642 with Pastor Bob Daniels officiating. Anyone wishing to attend the service is asked to go directly to the church. Anyone wishing to be in the bike run are asked to be at the funeral home at 10:30 am for procession. Interment will be private. The family would like to thank Angela Sipple with Excela Home Hospice for the love and compassionate care provided to Ken.
