Larry R. (Sr.) Rothwell

Larry R. Rothwell Sr., 73, of Madison, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born November 18, 1949 in Greensburg, PA. Son of the late Harry C. and Mildred (Ropey) Rothwell. He graduated from the former Sewickley Township High School Class of 1965. Larry was a very hard worker. He began working in the foundry at Westinghouse Air Brake Company, then on the assembly line at Wabtec and finally worked and retired from Pitt Rental after over 18 years of service. He was a lifetime volunteer fireman for Herminie VFD Station 15 and was a member of the Rilton VFD Station 14. He was also one of the founding members of the Sewickley Township Community Ambulance Service. Larry enjoyed riding quads and side by sides, going to the casino, doing handy man work around the house and spending time with family and friends. He and his wife, Cheryl, enjoyed traveling to Niagara Falls, Florida, West Virginia and Erie. He is preceded in death by both parents and brother, Eugene Rothwell. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Cheryl L. (Argentine) Rothwell of Madison, PA; sons, Larry Rothwell Jr. of Madison, PA and Barry Clark Jr. of Madison, PA; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren and furbabies, Mia and Mylo. Friends will be received from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A fireman’s service will be held at 7:30 pm at the funeral home with the Herminie VFD. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Larry’s memory to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
