Louis J. Grkman Jr., 74, of Jeannette, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 20, 1948 in Greensburg, PA. Son of the late Louis J. Sr. and Modestina (Ruscitti) Grkman. He was a member of the Ascension Church in Jeannette, PA and a former member of St Boniface Church in Penn. He graduated from Greensburg Central Catholic in 1965, California University of Pennsylvania in 1969 and then a Master’s in Education from West Virginia University. Louis retired from Hempfield School District as a Math and Science teacher after 36 years of service. He loved teaching and made a mark on many students' lives. He enjoyed being busy outdoors including golfing, skiing, visiting casinos, shooting, playing pool and especially riding motorcycles in the mountains at Westco. Most of all he enjoyed his time with family, friends and watching his grandkids grow up. Louis was always willing to help, by building, fixing, organizing, repairing and finishing every project with a Stoney’s beer. He played the accordion and enjoyed taking his significant other, Bonnie, polka dancing. They also enjoyed watching the Steelers, going to grandkids hockey games, riding in his Camaro and eating fresh vegetables from his neighbor’s garden. He is preceded in death by both parents; wife, Darla Grkman; brother, Ronnie Grkman and brother-in-law, Thomas Trumbetta. He is survived by his two sons, Louis J. Grkman III of Jeannette, PA and Matthew Grkman (Susan) of Penn Twp., PA; significant other, Bonnie Van Horn; grandchildren, Cody (Lindsey), Jacob, Brandon, Zachary and Elliana; brothers, James Grkman (Alisha) of Elgin, SC and Edward Grkman (Nancy) of West Mifflin, PA; sister, Eleanor Trumbetta of Crabtree, PA and sister-in-law, Janette Grkman. Friends will be received from 2 pm – 8 pm on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A funeral mass will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, November 14, 2022 at the Ascension Church, 615 Division St, Jeannette, PA 15644 with Fr. jean-Luc Officiating. Anyone wishing to attend the mass is asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow at the St. Boniface Cemetery in Irwin, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a memorial contribution be made to a foundation or family battling Parkinsons Disease.
