M. Carole (Sturm) Helsel-Truswell, 75, of Greensburg, PA, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022 at her home. She was born May 18, 1947 in Mt. Pleasant, PA. Daughter of the late Thomas U. and Doris L. (Henry) Sturm. She was a graduate of the former Sewickley Township High School Class of 1965. After high school, she attended and received her Associate’s degree in Nursing from Westmoreland Community College. Carole worked for over 25 years as a geriatric nurse for several agencies. During this time, she was able to work on the first AIDS patient in Westmoreland County. She enjoyed gardening, loved crocheting and was a talented cook. Cooking was her love language for taking care of others and she enjoyed creating unique dishes from all over the world. Carole enjoyed watching murder mystery shows on television, including Bones and Cyril Wecht. As well as Matlock and Judge Judy. She was a talented singer in her younger years and was chosen as a Pennsylvania State recipient to travel with the National Chorus. She loved volunteering at a local community farm. She donated and helped in whatever way she could for many years, as well as making a lifelong friend, Paul Sarver. Carole was an avid reader; reading over 30 books a week including the Bible. She loved animals and had a beloved cat, Magian. She is preceded in death by both parents and survived by three sons, Robert E. Helsel II (Mary Ellen) of Herminie, PA, Jonathan Truswell of Greensburg, PA and Donald David Earl of Minnesota; four grandchildren, Casey Helsel, Maxine Helsel, Rebecca Helsel and Margaret Helsel; three great grandchildren, Gabriel, Mason and Ava and one sister, E. Lynn Berger (Randalle) of Irwin, PA. Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. in charge of arrangements - Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. All services will be private.
