Mary Jane Altman, 69, of Madison, PA passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Excela Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg, PA after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 15, 1952 in Somerset, PA. Daughter of the late Glenn Eugene and Mary Rose (DeFleece) Rhoades. Jane was a very hard worker and was a jack of all trades. She began working as a truck driver for the family water company (Altman’s) and then went on to get her CNA license and work at Baldock Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide. She held several other jobs including working at the Sony plant in New Stanton, PA as an inspector and at the Greenawalt Farm store. She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, playing Bingo, scratch off tickets and going to the casino a time or two. She was a fan of Pepsi and enjoyed a daily cup of Taster’s Choice coffee. When her children were younger, she volunteered her time with their Girl Scout troup, dance team and softball teams. Jane enjoyed going to Mooseheart Retreat with her husband, Washington, DC as well as AL, FL and Disney World with her family. She is preceded in death by both parents, sister - Rose Donahue and three brothers -Tim and Fred Coley and Carl Rhoades and father and mother-in-law Thomas and Wilemma Altman. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years – David C. Altman of Madison, PA, two sons – John Rhoades (Tammy) of Youngwood, PA, David M. Altman (Tonya) of Perryopolis, PA, two daughters -Christina Dietz (Richard) of West Newton, PA and Jodi M. McElroy (John) of Youngwood, PA, five grandchildren - John M. Rhoades (fiancé Tiffany) of Plum, PA, Todd Rhoades of San Diego, CA, Elizabeth McElroy of Mt. Pleasant, PA, Ava Dietz and Waylon Taylor of West Newton, PA, three great grandchildren - Charlie, Lilah and Ryder and three brothers – Glenn Rhoades Jr. of SC, Francis Coley of CA and Butch Coley of CA. Services will be private. Interment will be private. Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. in charge of arrangements – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD.
