Matthew D. Geary

Matthew D. Geary, 60, of Greensburg, PA passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at his home. He was born January 9, 1963 in Greensburg, PA. Son of the late Robert G. and Lois J. (Clark) Geary. He was a graduate of Greensburg Central Catholic School Class of 1981. He then attended and graduated from St. Vincent College Class of 1985. Matt worked and retired from the Philadelphia Housing Authority as a housing specialist. He enjoyed collecting coins and stamps and attended many coin shows throughout the state. Matt lived in Philadelphia for several years and was an Eagle’s and Philly’s fan. He enjoyed watching Steven A. Smith on ESPN First Take and listening to classic rock. Matt enjoyed traveling. He visited England several times and went on several cruises to the Bahamas and Caribbean. He is preceded in death by both parents and brother, Joseph J. Geary. He is survived by fiance, Joanne Garvin; brother, Michael C. Geary of Greensburg, PA; nephew, Robert C. Geary of Greensburg, PA; nieces, Maria Geary and Jessica Govora (Steve); special friend, Annie Dolan of Philadelphia, PA and his feline companion, Buffy. Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. in charge of services – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A graveside burial will take place at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at the Madison Union Cemetery in Madison, PA.
