Pete J. Draus, 69, of Lowber, PA, peacefully passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 11, 1951 in Derby, CT. Son of the late Peter J. and Rose M. Zalenski Draus. Peter was a graduate of Bullard-Havens High School Class of 1969, a graduate from Bullard-Havens Tech for Tool and Die and a graduate from Greensburg Institute of Technology for Computer Aided Drafting and Design. He was certified by Connecticut Welding Institute, as well as certified by U.S. Coast Guard for Seamanship in the Florida Keys. Peter was a very loving, faithful and good-hearted man. He had a great sense of humor and cared deeply for his wife and son. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles, sky diving, scuba diving, camping at Kooser with family, playing his harmonica and going to the Mountains of Pa and Connecticut to dirt bike ride with family and friends. He enjoyed trips to Harbor Freight and had a knack for building and fixing things with his hands. Peter loved a variety of music and was always listening through his headphones. He is preceded in death by both parents and survived by his loving wife of 40 years – Vernae M. Choban Draus of Lowber, PA, one son – Matt Draus and wife Nicole of Lowber, PA, 2 grandchildren – Grace and Takoda Draus, sister – Rosemary Draus of Branford, CT, two brother-in-laws – Mike Choban and wife Charlotte of Mt. Pleasant, PA and John Choban and wife Sandie of Lowber, PA, three nieces – Cherie, Cindy and Debbie, three nephews – Michael, John and Kevin and numerous great nieces and great nephews. A public greeting will be held at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at the Bible Alliance Church 1300 Mt. Pleasant Rd. West Newton, PA 15089. Followed by a public memorial service at 7:00 PM at the church with Rev. Frank Todaro officiating. Interment will be private. Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA in charge of services – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. The family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice for the loving and compassionate care given to Peter. A special thanks to Peter’s nurses, Brenda Hermann and Melanie Sanner, who he had a special relationship with and loved dearly.
