Richard W. “Dick” Bashioum, 77, of West Newton, PA, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Jefferson Hospital in Jefferson Hills, PA. He was born September 1, 1944 in Wyano, PA. Son of the late Charles F. and Catherine R. (Smitley) Bashioum. Dick was a graduate of the former Sewickley Township High School Class of 1962. He worked and retired from Tygart Steel where he was a machinist and fork lift operator for over 40 years. He loved hunting, fishing and camping in Cambria County and Cameron County with his family. He was a family man who was a big jokester and could make anything humorous. Dick enjoyed a large variety of music, as well as movies and shows on television and YouTube and was as big Steeler fan. He is preceded in death by both parents, loving wife of 50 years – Roberta J. Bashioum, infant twin girls – Sally and Nancy, one brother – Charles “Chuck” Bashioum and two sisters – Jane Provlic and Ruth Ann DeMarco. He is survived by two sons – Charles Bashioum and wife Robin of Scottdale, PA and Richard Bashioum Jr. and wife Hillari of Warminster, Pa. Two daughters – Denise Ewing and husband Scott of West Newton, PA and Roberta McGervey and husband Dan of Pittsburgh, PA, ten grandchildren – Sam (Kelsea) Bashioum, Matt Bashioum, Nicholas McGervey, Danny McGervey, William Bashioum, Dori Bashioum, R.J. Lees, Eric Ewing, Elliott Epstein and Sam Epstein, three great grandchildren – Madison, Oakleigh and Karlie, two sisters – Sue Gestler of Yukon, PA and Melanie Sager of WV and two brothers – Thomas Bashioum and wife Barb of Apollo, PA and Michael “Mick” Bashioum and wife Terri of Wyano, PA. Friends will be received from 9 am – 12 pm on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A funeral service will be held at 12 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Randy Sweet officiating. A private interment will take place at the Westmoreland Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensburg, PA with full military honors with the Armbrust Veterans accorded.
