Roger Allen Fox

Roger Allen Fox, 73, of Latrobe, PA, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Gables Manor in Latrobe, PA. He was born May 22, 1948 in Greensburg, PA. Son of the late Raymond E. and Betty Jean (Bussard) Fox. Roger was a beloved brother, uncle and nephew. He was a graduate of Hempfield High School Class of 1966. He attended DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago where he received his degree in electronics. He then went on to work as a Boiler electrician for Clayton Manufacturing for several years. Roger was a very kind and generous man that enjoyed nature more than anything. He loved to fish, hunt, garden and landscape. He owned a boat and would often be found out on the lake. He enjoyed watching birds and would buy big bags of birdseed to feed them. He was an avid reader and absorbed the information; making him well versed in plant and tree care. His family home held a large garden, orchard and grape arbor. He learned early on about hard work and how to care for a garden; canning and freezing vegetables and fruit from the summer crop. He was his father’s right-hand man; learning from him and working by his side. He was very active in Boy Scouts; earning the highest rank attainable in the Scouts BSA program, Eagle Scout. He was also a member of the Order of the Arrow; an honor society of the Boy Scouts of America. He also enjoyed playing softball; becoming a switch hitter. He is preceded in death by both parents and one brother – Roy Alton Fox. He is survived by three sisters Rev. Lee Anna (Rev. Joseph Allen) Kelley of Avon, OH – Lisa K. Sierra of Hunker, PA. and Lenore F. Fox of Alabama. One aunt – Betty Boggio of Jeannette, PA and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Friends will be received from 2 – 3 pm on Monday, November 1, 2021 at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A funeral service will be held at 3 pm at the funeral home with Pastor John Smaligo officiating. A private interment will take place at Westmoreland Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensburg, PA. Masks are highly recommended to be worn while in the funeral home.
