Sara R. Williams Chew, 92, of Smithton, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 27, 1928 in South Huntingdon Township. Daughter of the late Earl Thomas and Ruth Gaut Williams. Sara graduated second in her class from South Huntingdon High School Class of 1946. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in West Newton, PA for over 50 years. Sara enjoyed gardening, playing board games, boating on Yough Lake with her family and playing croquet in the back yard in the spring time. Sara had a passion for playing card games such as 500 Rummy, Canasta and Hand and Foot with her family and friends, at times gathering up to 35 people. She loved wintering in Daytona, FL with her loving husband and granddaughter and spending time with friends they had met there throughout the years. Sara was a great baker and was known for her apple pies. They were so good that people would pre-order them during church bake sales. She is preceded in death by both parents, her loving husband – Clarence Chew, one brother – Kenneth Williams and wife Teresa and one sister – Edith Walt and husband Harry. She is survived by two sons – Rodney Chew of Smithton, PA and Jeff Chew of Smithton, PA, one granddaughter – Samantha Chew of Smithton, PA, one brother – Ronald Williams and wife Mary of Moon Township, PA, one sister – Marilyn Heath of Smithton, PA, numerous nieces and nephews and her loving weener dog Lynis. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the West Newton Cemetery in West Newton, PA with Rev. Randy Sweet officiating. Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc.
