Shirley Ann (Bryan) Sager, 79, of West Newton, PA, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. She was born February 2, 1942 in Fitz Henry, PA. Daughter of the late John R. and Margaret Pearl (Shandorf) Bryan. Shirley was a graduate of South Huntingdon High School Class of 1960. She was a member of the Sewickley United Presbyterian Church in West Newton, PA. She was also a member of the Yukon Senior Center in Yukon, PA. and the West Newton Senior Center in West Newton, PA. Shirley was the owner and operator of Shirley’s Place in Herminie, PA. She shared her love of cooking by working at several local restaurants throughout the years. Shirley worked as a nurse’s aide for Briarcliff Nursing Home then worked and retired from Westmoreland Manor as a nursing assistant. Shirley was a great cook and baker; catering family parties and was known for her amazing lady lochs. She enjoyed baking and made cookies for Christmas presents and family weddings. Shirley loved her family and had a special place in her heart for her legacies; her grandchildren and great-grandson. She was a very special person and people gravitated to her. Shirley was a very hard-working woman who always took care of others before herself; feeding the neighborhood children and handing out popsicles every summer. She liked to play Bingo, watch the Pirates, listen to old country music and collect angel figurines. She enjoyed going on train rides with her family to various places, as well as road trips on back roads with family. She enjoyed bus trips with the Senior Center and playing scat at the Yukon Slovenian Hall with her friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Merle Robert Sager, Sr, seven brothers – Joseph, John Jr., Robert, James, Earl, Michael and James Bryan, two sisters - Betty Shoaf and Rita Haney. She is survived by three daughters - Lisa (Ronald Jr.). Cosalter of Smithton, PA, Anna (Robert) Hampton of Charleroi, PA and Tina (Keith) Hampton of Hutchinson, PA, one son – Merle Robert Sager Jr. of West Newton, PA, eight grandchildren - Emily Cosalter, Katie Cosalter, Zachary Hampton, Danika Hampton, Connor Sager-Hampton, Merle Robert “Robbie” Sager III, Sierra Sager and Kylee Sager, one great grandson – Zayne Sager and seven sisters - Sally Stevens, Margaret Bryan, Gertrude Copeland, Easter Sharp, Clara Bradley, Bonnie Frohnhofer and Mary Ashbaugh. Friends will be received from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 9 pm on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA 15663 – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A funeral ceremony will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 11 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Glenn Hart officiating. Interment will follow at the Westmoreland Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensburg, PA.
