Violet T. (Miller) Pore, 93, of West Newton, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born May 4, 1929, in Grapeville, PA. Daughter of the late Charles H. and Violet T. (Miller) Miller. She was a graduate of Jeannette High School Class of 1947. Vi worked and retired from Old Republic Insurance as a secretary. She was a very active member of West Newton United Presbyterian Church and West Newton United Presbyterian Women’s Club where she was co-circle leader. Vi loved watching the Penn State Football, Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and the Gameshow Network on television, as well as attending any sport or activity that her grandchildren and great grandchildren participated in. She was an avid reader and counted cross stitcher. She loved ice cream and milkshakes, any flavor but chocolate, and was the best peach pie maker in Westmoreland County. Vi was always busy and loved to travel with her husband, Gene , as well as with her brother, Charles. She is preceded in death by both parents; loving husband, Eugene (Gene) R. Pore; brothers, Alfred Miller, Kenneth Miller and Lewis Miller; son-in-law, George Greenawalt; granddaughter, Theresa Pore; grandson-in-law, Douglas Yuhas She is survived by one son, Gary L. Pore (Diane) of West Newton, PA; two daughters, Kathy Greenawalt-Yelich (Chuck) of West Newton, PA and Carol R. Voll (Bill) of Richmond, KY; seven grandchildren, Eric Greenawalt (Berlina), Michelle Polovina (Brandon), Melissa Shank (Russell), Leah Pore (Joe Nader), Jessica Granny (Chris), Casey Derr (Joel) and Zachary Voll and 15.5 great grandchildren; brother, Charles E. Miller of McHenry, IL and sister, Dorothy Heltebran of Wyano, PA. Friends will be received from 2 – 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 16, 2022 at the funeral home with Pastor John Manon officiating.
