William G. Fike

William G. Fike, 86, of Ruffsdale, PA, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Excela Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg, PA. Every now and then, this world is gifted with a magnificent human being. On June 25, 1935, this earth was blessed with William G. Fike who was born to Everett and Virginia (Hanft) Fike in Markleysburg, PA. Bill was a graduate of South Union High School and he attended Penn Technical Institute. Bill worked for Bell Telephone and Verizon for his entire career. He was a strong, gentle and loving husband and father. He was an accomplished man, but humble and selfless. Bill was married to Catherine (Lechnar) Fike PhD., for 62 years and together they built a legacy. Bill is now with his daughter Michele who died at the age of 18. His greatest pride was their children Scott, Brady and Julie. He was a grandfather to seven grandsons, two granddaughters and two great grandchildren. He is survived by two sisters, Donna and Joyce. He was an excellent trap-shooter, fisherman and hunter, and he loved his farm and beloved mountains. He was happiest when he was in nature. Bill could fix anything – he could put toothpaste back in a tube!
