William C. King Sr., 93, of Yukon, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Independence Health System in Greensburg, PA surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 10, 1930 in Jacobs Creek, PA. Son of the late William James and Teresa (Magnone) King. Bill graduated from South Huntingdon High School Class of 1948. He worked and retired from CSX Railroad as an engineer and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Division 370. Bill was a veteran of the Korean War. He was with the 374th troop carrier group attaining rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the Korean service medal, United Nations and Japanese occupation medal and Good Conduct medal. He enjoyed listening to polka music and going dancing with his wife, Barb. Bill was an avid reader, enjoyed Stoney’s beer, an occasional glass of wine and reminiscing about past Sunday family dinners. He had a large vegetable garden and enjoyed canning all the tomatoes he grew. He is preceded in death by both parents; brother, Donald “Dodo” King and sister, Twyla Lancelota. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Barbara (Mackovsek) King of Yukon, PA; son, Bill C. King Jr. of Yukon, PA; daughter, Sonya (Frank) Backstrom of Belle Vernon, PA; sisters, Shirley Kosor of Turkey Town, PA and Donna (Stan) Patterson of Belle Vernon, PA; nieces; nephews; brother-in-law’s and sister-in-law. Friends will be received from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A blessing service will be held at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church, 102 Center St. Yukon, PA 15698 with Fr. David J. Nazimek officiating. Anyone wishing to attend the service is asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow at the Westmoreland Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensburg, PA with full military honors by the Armbrust Veterans accorded. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in Bill’s memory to Seven Dolores Catholic Church, 102 Center St. Yukon, PA 15698 or the American Red Cross, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839.
